It appears exclusively during Service programme step 10, which is a diagnostic mode accessed by a technician to evaluate internal component performance. The temperature sensor in question is the one integrated with or directly monitored by the control electronics, and the fault suggests the control module is reading an invalid or out-of-range signal from that sensor input.

The root cause is typically either a failure within the display electronics module itself or a breakdown in the signal path between the temperature sensor and the control board. Because the fault is only detectable in Service mode, it may not produce obvious cooking performance issues immediately, but it does indicate a compromised monitoring circuit that can affect oven safety and accuracy over time.

The prescribed diagnostic approach begins with allowing the oven to cool completely, then performing a dual mains reset, which involves cutting power at the breaker or fuse, waiting, and restoring power twice in sequence. If E012 persists after this reset procedure, the display electronics module is identified as the primary suspect and should be replaced, followed by another double mains reset to confirm the fault has cleared. This reset sequence is critical because residual error states can remain stored in the control memory even after a component swap.
