Pd stands for plugged drain on a GE dishwasher. It means the control board detected that the drain feedback switch was still closed at 405 seconds into the drain cycle, indicating the dishwasher failed to drain within the expected time. The control cancels the cycle when this happens to protect the appliance and your kitchen. A clog somewhere in the drain system is the most common cause.

Resetting the dishwasher may clear the error code temporarily, but if the underlying drain blockage or component fault is not resolved, the Pd code will return during the next drain cycle. Always address the physical cause of the drain obstruction before attempting a reset. A reset alone is not a repair.

If the fix involves clearing a clogged air gap or drain hose, the repair can be done at no cost beyond your time.
