The simultaneous flashing of the SENSING and WASHING status lights along with an audible beeping signal on a GE dishwasher indicates a control error. This condition means the main control board has detected an internal fault or has entered an error state that prevents the wash cycle from proceeding normally. The control board monitors multiple inputs and operational parameters throughout the cycle, and when it encounters an inconsistency or a communication failure it cannot resolve, it halts operation and signals the fault through this specific combination of flashing indicators and beeping.

This type of control error is typically not tied to a single failed sensor or mechanical component. Instead, it often reflects a transient fault in the control board's processing, a power fluctuation that disrupted board operation, or an internal software state the board cannot exit on its own. Because both the SENSING and WASHING lights are involved, the fault appears to occur at or near the transition between the sensing phase and the active wash phase of the cycle, which is when the control board processes water level and temperature data before commanding the wash motor.
