GE Range Error Code 745

Error code 745 means the control board cannot determine the status of the Cavity 1 door lock. The lock mechanism is supposed to send position feedback signals to the control board, and when those signals are missing or unreadable, the board logs this error. It most commonly points to a wiring harness issue or a problem with the lock assembly itself.

Normal baking and cooking functions may still operate, but you should avoid starting a self-clean cycle when this error is active. The self-clean cycle depends on a confirmed locked door position for safe operation at high temperatures, and an unknown lock state means that safety interlock cannot be trusted.

After performing a Cancel reset, focus on the wiring harness that connects the Cavity 1 door lock assembly to the control board. Check for loose connectors at both ends, look for any wires that appear pinched, burned, or frayed, and test for continuity through the harness. If the harness checks out, the lock motor and its internal position switches are the next components to evaluate.

Pressing Cancel is the recommended first step and may clear the error if it was caused by a brief signal interruption. If the error returns after the reset, a physical inspection of the door lock assembly and its wiring harness is necessary to find the underlying cause.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose harness connector, there may be little to no parts cost. Replacing the door lock assembly typically runs in the range of $50 to $150 for the part, with labor costs varying by region and service provider. A control board replacement, if needed, is generally the most expensive repair and can range from $150 to $400 or more for parts alone.
