The F003 error code on a GE range indicates that the oven user interface (UI) board contains an incorrect configuration. The UI board is the control panel assembly responsible for accepting user inputs such as temperature settings, cook modes, and timer functions, then communicating those commands to the main control board. When the oven's internal self-diagnostic routine detects that the UI board's firmware or hardware configuration does not match the expected parameters for that specific model, it throws the F003 code and may prevent normal oven operation.

This type of fault most commonly occurs when a replacement UI board has been installed that carries outdated firmware or is not the correct revision for the specific model variant. GE ranges can have several hardware revisions within the same model line, and a board that is physically compatible may still cause an F003 if its embedded configuration does not align with the main control board's expectations. In some cases, the fault can also appear if the existing UI board has experienced internal corruption of its configuration data, though this is less common than a revision mismatch.

The primary corrective action is to replace the UI board with the latest revision available for the specific model. Simply swapping in any compatible-looking board is not sufficient.
