The Unb error code on a Haier washer indicates an unbalance condition detected during the spin cycle. During spin, the washer's control board continuously monitors drum rotation and load distribution. When the load shifts to one side of the drum, the resulting imbalance creates excessive vibration and irregular drum movement. The control system detects this through sensors monitoring motor feedback or drum motion, and triggers the Unb error to halt or interrupt the spin cycle before mechanical damage can occur.

The most frequent cause of this error is washing a single heavy item or a very small load that cannot redistribute itself during the machine's balance correction attempts. Most Haier washers will attempt to redistribute the load by adding water and tumbling before retrying the spin. If the imbalance persists beyond the machine's correction threshold, the Unb code is displayed and the cycle is interrupted. This is a protective function, not a component failure in most cases.
