AL05 indicates a pressure switch compliance failure. The control board monitors the pressure switch during filling and heating, and this code appears when the switch fails to register a FULL water level after the set fill volume is reached, or remains in the EMPTY position at the end of the heating cycle. The fault points to a problem in the water level sensing system, which includes the pressure switch, its connecting hose, and the sump air trap.

A reset may temporarily clear the AL05 code, but if the underlying fault is still present the error will return during the next wash cycle. Resetting is useful to confirm whether the fault is intermittent, but it is not a fix. The root cause involving the pressure switch, hose, or air trap needs to be addressed before the machine will operate reliably.

If the repair involves only cleaning the air trap or reseating a disconnected hose, the cost is minimal and often a straightforward DIY task. Replacing a faulty pressure switch typically costs between 15 and 50 dollars for the part, with additional labor costs if a technician is hired.
