E08 indicates that the flame current measured at the flame sense pads (FP) on the integrated furnace control board is below 0.5 micro-amp DC. This means the sensor is detecting the flame, but the signal is weaker than it should be. The furnace continues to operate under this condition, but the low signal is a warning that something in the sensing circuit or combustion system needs attention before a complete failure occurs.

The E08 condition does allow the furnace to continue operating because the flame current, though low, is still present. However, running the furnace with a degraded flame signal means the IFC may eventually fail to confirm the flame is lit and could shut the system down as a safety measure. It is best to diagnose and correct the underlying cause promptly rather than allowing the condition to worsen.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If the fix is simply cleaning the flame sensor rod or tightening a wire connection, a service call may cost somewhere in the range of $75 to $150 for labor.
