Lennox HVAC Error Code 201

Error code 201 on a Lennox HVAC system means the air-handler control board has lost communication with the indoor blower motor. The blower motor uses a serial data link to receive commands and report back to the control board, and when that link is broken the system logs code 201. Common causes include loose wiring, a power interruption, the motor not being powered, or condensation on the control board.

Code 201 is designed to clear automatically once communication between the control board and the blower motor is restored, so a simple reset may temporarily clear the fault. However, if the underlying cause is not corrected, the code will return. A reset without diagnosing the root cause is not a fix and the system may continue to malfunction.

Repair costs for code 201 vary depending on the cause. If the fix is simply reseating a loose wiring connection, you may only pay for a service call, typically in the range of $75 to $150. When code 201 is active, the system cannot properly control the indoor blower motor, which means conditioned air may not be circulated through your home.
