Error code 351 on a Lennox air handler indicates a problem with the first stage electric heat pilot relay. Either the relay coil did not energize or its contacts did not close when the system called for stage 1 heat. This prevents the first stage heating elements from receiving power. The alarm clears once the control board detects that the stage 1 relay has successfully closed.

The error code itself reflects a control failure rather than an immediate safety emergency, as the heating elements are not receiving power. However, ignoring the fault means your system is operating without the first stage of electric heat, which can reduce comfort and put extra demand on any remaining heating stages. A failed relay should be addressed promptly to restore proper operation and prevent additional strain on other components.

A simple power reset will not permanently clear code 351 if the underlying relay or wiring fault still exists.
