The 3C error code on an LG dishwasher indicates a circulation pump motor fault. On units with software version 7134 and above, the inverter board that drives the pump motor sends a check code to the main control board when it detects abnormal motor operation. The code is confirmed after the fault occurs at the third rest interval, meaning the dishwasher attempted to run the pump multiple times before locking out and displaying 3C.

A reset may temporarily clear the 3C code and allow the dishwasher to attempt another cycle, but if the underlying cause is not resolved, the error will return. Because the code only triggers after the fault occurs three times during rest intervals, the dishwasher will cycle through the same detection process and display 3C again. Resetting is useful for confirming the fault is consistent, but it is not a fix on its own.

If the cause is simply a foreign object blocking the pump or hose, the repair may cost nothing beyond your time. If the circulation pump motor needs replacement, parts and labor typically range from around $150 to $350 depending on the model and service rates in your area. Replacing an inverter board can carry a similar or slightly higher cost, generally in the range of $200 to $400 including labor.

Start by checking the circulation hose and circulation pump for any foreign material such as broken glass, food debris, or small objects that may be blocking the impeller. If the pump and hose are clear, the next steps are inspecting the wiring between the inverter and the pump, and then testing or replacing the pump motor or inverter board. Simple blockages can be cleared without parts, but a failed pump motor or inverter board will require replacement components.

It is not recommended to continue running the dishwasher while the 3C error is active. The circulation pump is not operating correctly, so the dishwasher cannot wash dishes effectively.
