The gAS code means the dryer detected that gas supply is not available or is insufficient to operate the burner. It is specific to LG gas dryer models and is not applicable to electric versions. The dryer displays this code to prevent repeated failed ignition attempts when the gas supply is off or restricted.

The code itself is a protective alert, not an indication of a gas leak. The dryer stops attempting ignition when it cannot detect proper gas supply, which reduces risk. However, if you smell gas near the dryer at any point, leave the area immediately, avoid operating any switches, and contact your gas utility provider. Do not attempt repairs while any gas odor is present.

If the fix is simply opening a shutoff valve, there is no parts cost involved.
