The CL code on an LG HVAC unit indicates that the Child Lock feature is currently active. This is a built-in control lockout function, not a fault or error condition. When Child Lock is engaged, the unit's control panel buttons are disabled to prevent unintended changes to settings, which is particularly useful in households with young children or in commercial settings where accidental input could disrupt operation.

The Child Lock function is managed entirely through the unit's control board and panel interface. No sensors, refrigerant circuits, or mechanical components are involved. The display shows CL as a status indicator to alert the user that input commands from the front panel will not be processed until the lock is released. The unit continues to operate normally under whatever settings were active when the lock was engaged.

To disengage Child Lock, press the Timer and Min buttons simultaneously and hold them for 5 seconds. The same button combination is used to re-engage the function if needed. If the CL indicator persists after following this procedure, confirm that both buttons are being pressed at exactly the same time and held for the full 5-second duration.
