LG HVAC Error Code E601

E601 on an LG HVAC system means the communication link between the wired remote control and the ventilator unit has been interrupted for more than 3 minutes. The system monitors the data exchange between these two components continuously, and when the signal drops out beyond that time threshold, the error is triggered. It does not necessarily indicate a failed part, as a wiring issue or temporary signal disruption can also cause it.

The E601 error is a communication fault, not a refrigerant, electrical overload, or combustion issue, so it does not present an immediate safety hazard. However, because the ventilator and remote can no longer communicate, the unit may not respond to commands or maintain the intended ventilation settings. It is best to resolve the error promptly to ensure the system operates as intended.

If the fix is simply re-tracking the remote or tightening a loose wire connection, the cost can be minimal, primarily covering a service call fee which typically ranges from $75 to $150 depending on your area. If the wired remote control needs replacement, parts and labor combined generally fall in the $150 to $400 range. Replacement of a communication board inside the ventilator unit tends to be more expensive, often ranging from $250 to $600 or more depending on parts availability and labor rates.

Start by pressing the Wind Strength Control Button and the Operation Selection Button on the wired remote control at the same time and holding them for 5 seconds to initiate the re-tracking procedure. If the error clears, the fault was likely a temporary communication dropout. If E601 returns or does not clear, inspect the control wiring between the remote and the ventilator for loose connections or damage, and check whether the remote or the ventilator's communication board needs replacement.

A full power reset alone may not clear E601 if the underlying communication fault still exists after power is restored. The recommended first step is the re-tracking procedure on the wired remote, which is specifically designed to re-establish the communication link. If the fault is caused by a wiring problem or a failed component, the error will return even after resetting until the root cause is addressed.
