Error code 1-1 means the control board has detected that the K1 pilot relay is stuck in the closed position. This relay controls power delivery to one or more components in the dishwasher, and when it fails to open on command, the control logs the fault. The condition is often caused by a shorted load component that welded the relay contacts shut. Both the shorted component and the control board typically need to be replaced to clear this error.

Running the dishwasher with a 1-1 error is not recommended. A stuck-closed relay means a load may be receiving power when it should not be, which can create a risk of overheating or further electrical damage to the appliance. You should disconnect power to the unit until the fault has been properly diagnosed and repaired.

Repair costs vary depending on which components are shorted and need replacement in addition to the control board. Cutting power may temporarily suppress the display, but the fault condition will return as soon as the control attempts to operate the relay again. Resolving this error requires inspecting and replacing the faulty components.

Start by unplugging the dishwasher or shutting off the circuit breaker. With power removed, test each load connected to the K1 pilot relay, such as the wash motor, drain pump, and heating element, using a multimeter to check for short circuits. Any shorted components must be replaced, and the control board must also be replaced because the K1 relay is integrated into it. Reconnect power only after all faulty parts have been swapped out.
