Maytag Dryer Error Code donE

The donE display on a Maytag dryer is an informational status message rather than a fault or error code. It appears at the end of a completed drying and cooling cycle to notify the user that the load is finished and ready to be removed. This display is part of the dryer's normal end-of-cycle communication system and does not indicate any malfunction with the appliance.

In addition to signaling a completed cycle, donE can also appear when the dryer is actively running its anti-wrinkle function. This feature engages automatically after the main drying cycle finishes. During anti-wrinkle mode, the drum tumbles periodically without heat to prevent clothes from sitting still and developing wrinkles. The donE message remains visible throughout this phase to indicate the primary drying work is complete, even though the drum may still be moving.

Because donE is a status indicator and not a fault code, there are no components to diagnose or replace when this message appears under normal circumstances. If the message persists and the dryer will not respond to new cycle selections or controls, that could point to a control board issue or a stuck button on the user interface panel. In those cases, a power reset by unplugging the unit for one to two minutes is the appropriate first step before investigating further.
