The FP code on a Miele refrigerator is not a fault code in the conventional sense. It stands for Factory Production and appears when the unit is in a self-test mode used during the manufacturing and quality control process. This mode is designed to verify that refrigerator systems are functioning within factory test parameters before the unit leaves the production facility. When conditions do not match the expected factory test environment, the FP code is displayed to indicate the test could not be completed under proper conditions.

Because the FP code is tied to factory testing routines rather than any actual component failure, it does not indicate a malfunction with the compressor, temperature sensors, fans, or any other refrigerator system. The unit itself is operating normally. The code typically appears if a refrigerator is powered on in a retail, service, or home setting where the controlled factory test conditions cannot be replicated.

Clearing the FP code requires pressing the s button on the control panel. This exits the factory test mode and returns the refrigerator to its normal operating mode. No parts replacement, diagnostics of refrigeration components, or service calls are needed to resolve this code. Technicians encountering this code during an in-home service visit can immediately dismiss it as a residual factory mode trigger and proceed by pressing the s button to restore standard operation.
