Removing all laundry from the drum and restarting is the recommended first step.

A C1 error indicates a sensor reading problem rather than an immediate safety hazard like overheating or a fire risk. However, a malfunctioning dry sensor means the dryer may not be accurately detecting when clothes are dry, which could lead to over-drying or inefficient cycles.
