The tC8 code means the dryer's control board has detected that Thermistor 4 is reading a resistance value that is either very low or very high, outside the normal operating range. Thermistor 4 is a temperature sensor used to monitor heat at a specific location inside the dryer. The fault can be caused by a failed sensor, damaged wiring, or a loose connector in that sensor circuit.

It is not recommended to continue using the dryer with an active tC8 error. Thermistor 4 provides temperature data the control board uses to manage heat levels, and a faulty reading could prevent the dryer from detecting an overheating condition. Running the dryer without a functioning temperature sensor creates a potential fire risk.
