CF-1 means the communication link between the Main PCB and the Sub PCB has been interrupted. These two control boards need to exchange data to run the oven properly, and CF-1 appears when that link fails. The cause is often a loose connector rather than a failed board. Checking and reseating the connectors on both boards is always the first diagnostic step.

A CF-1 error typically prevents the oven from operating normally, so continued use is generally not possible while the fault is active. Even if the oven were to function partially, operating an appliance with an unresolved control board communication fault is not recommended. Power the oven off and address the fault before using it again.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, the cost may be limited to a service call fee, which typically ranges from $50 to $120 depending on your location. If the Main PCB needs to be replaced, parts and labor combined can range from $150 to $400 or more depending on the specific oven model and local labor rates. Getting a diagnostic estimate before authorizing repairs is always advisable.

A homeowner comfortable with basic appliance disassembly can check whether the connectors on the Main and Sub PCBs are fully seated, as this is the first recommended diagnostic step. If reseating the connectors does not clear the error, diagnosing a damaged harness or replacing the Main PCB is a more involved repair that many people prefer to leave to a qualified technician. A power reset, such as unplugging the oven or turning off the circuit breaker for a few minutes, may temporarily clear the display.
