The furnace is designed to prevent normal operation when this fault is active, which means heating output will be limited or unavailable. Attempting to force operation with a mismatched motor risks running the blower outside its intended parameters, which could cause motor damage or inadequate airflow. It is best to have the fault diagnosed and corrected before relying on the furnace for heating.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If only a wiring connector needs attention, costs may be limited to a service call fee, typically in the range of $75 to $150.
