Error code 1-3 means the control board has detected one or more keys in the keypad that are stuck in a pressed state or sending a continuous input signal. This can be caused by a physically stuck button, a damaged keypad membrane, moisture under the overlay, or a faulty connection between the keypad and the control board. The dishwasher will not operate normally until the fault is cleared.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code display, but it will return if the underlying keypad or connection issue is not resolved. The control is designed to flag this fault whenever it detects a continuous stuck key signal, so the problem must be physically corrected before the code will stay cleared. Unplugging the unit for a few minutes is the typical reset method.

If the repair only requires reseating the keypad connector, there is no parts cost involved. Replacing a keypad membrane assembly typically runs between $30 and $100 for the part, depending on the model. If the control board also needs replacement, total repair costs including parts and labor can range from $150 to $350 or more.

Start by pressing each button on the control panel to check whether any feel stuck or unresponsive. If you identify a problem key, unplug the dishwasher, then disconnect and firmly reconnect the keypad harness or ribbon cable at the control board. If the error persists after reassembly, the keypad assembly likely needs to be replaced. In cases where a new keypad does not resolve the fault, the control board may also need evaluation.

It is generally not recommended to continue running the dishwasher while this fault is active. A stuck key condition means the control may be receiving unintended input commands, which could cause the appliance to behave unpredictably. Addressing the fault before resuming use is the safer approach.
