Frigidaire Dishwasher Not Draining?

Frigidaire dishwashers have a removable filter in the bottom of the tub. Turn the filter handle counterclockwise and lift out both the upper and lower filter components. Rinse them under hot running water with a soft brush. Food buildup here is the most common drain issue.

The drain hose runs from the pump to the garbage disposal or drain connection under the sink. Check for kinks or compression where the hose passes through the cabinet. On Frigidaire dishwashers, the hose connects to the pump with a spring clamp that can loosen over time.

Make sure the drain hose is installed with either an air gap device or a high loop under the counter. Without this, water can siphon back into the dishwasher from the sink drain, making it appear as though the dishwasher isn’t draining.

If your Frigidaire dishwasher drains into a garbage disposal, always run the disposal with water for 15–20 seconds before starting a dishwasher cycle. A partially clogged disposal will prevent the dishwasher from draining.

Start a cycle and listen during the drain phase. You should hear the pump motor running. If you hear nothing, the pump motor may have failed. If you hear it running but water doesn’t drain, the impeller may be broken or the check valve is stuck.
