Frigidaire Dryer Not Heating?
Frigidaire dryers (including Frigidaire Gallery and Electrolux-branded models) share common heating system designs. A no-heat condition is usually caused by one of a few predictable parts.
Always unplug the dryer before accessing internal parts. Frigidaire electric dryers operate on 240V. Never bypass thermal safety devices. For gas models, shut off the gas supply before any inspection.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
Disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer and run a timed heat cycle. If the dryer heats without the vent, the vent system is blocked. Frigidaire recommends vent runs no longer than 25 feet with minimal bends. Each 90-degree elbow reduces effective length by 5 feet.
Electric Frigidaire dryers require 240V from a double breaker. If one half trips, you get tumble but no heat. Reset the breaker by turning it fully off and then on. Check the dryer outlet with a multimeter if you have one — you should read 240V between the two hot terminals.
Remove the lint screen and wash it with dish soap to remove the waxy residue left by dryer sheets. Also clean inside the lint filter slot with a narrow brush. On Frigidaire dryers, the lint path can get restricted, causing overheating and thermal fuse failure.
Frigidaire dryers use a thermal limiter (similar to a thermal fuse) on the heater housing. If the dryer overheated, this safety device blows and stops the heater from working. Unplug the dryer, remove the back panel, and test the thermal limiter with a multimeter. Replace if it reads open (no continuity).
The heating element is a coiled wire inside a housing at the back of the dryer. With the dryer unplugged and the back panel removed, visually inspect the coil for breaks. Test between the element terminals with a multimeter — you should see 10–20 ohms of resistance. An open reading means the element has burned through.

When to call a professional
If the cycling thermostat or hi-limit thermostat has failed, the dryer may overheat repeatedly and blow the thermal limiter every time you replace it. A tech can test the full thermal circuit and determine which thermostat is out of spec. Also, if the control board isn’t sending voltage to the heater relay, the board itself may need replacement.
