Code 32 on a Carrier furnace indicates that the low-heat pressure switch, draft safeguard switch, or auxiliary limit switch (on downflow units) did not close after the inducer started, or closed and then reopened during operation. The furnace uses this switch circuit to confirm that combustion gases are being safely exhausted before allowing ignition to proceed. If the switch stays open for more than 5 minutes, the inducer shuts off and the furnace waits 15 minutes before trying again. The most common causes are vent obstructions, faulty pressure tubing, or a defective pressure switch or inducer motor.

Code 32 is a safety lockout, meaning the furnace has already stopped operating to prevent unsafe conditions. You should not attempt to bypass or override the pressure switch circuit. The switch exists to confirm that combustion gases are being properly vented, and running the furnace without confirming safe draft could create a carbon monoxide hazard. Leave the furnace off until the cause of the fault has been identified and corrected.
