The Err code on an Electrolux dryer is not a mechanical or electrical fault code in the traditional sense. It is a user interface error that the control board generates when the machine receives an invalid input from the control panel. Specifically, this occurs in two situations: when the user attempts to change the selected programme or an option after the drying cycle has already started, or when the user selects an option that is incompatible with the currently chosen programme. The control system is designed to lock in cycle parameters once operation begins, and any attempt to alter those parameters mid-cycle triggers this response.

The error is generated and managed entirely within the electronic control board, which monitors panel inputs against the current operating state. When the board detects an out-of-sequence or conflicting input, it flags the Err code on the display rather than allowing a potentially incompatible combination of settings to run. This is a protective and operational logic feature, not an indication of a failing component. Common examples include trying to add a timed dry option to a sensor-based programme, or adjusting temperature or spin settings after the drum has already begun rotating.

In most cases, this error clears immediately once the machine is powered off and restarted. After the restart, the user can make their desired programme or option selection before pressing start. If the Err code appears repeatedly even when selections are made before starting the cycle, this could indicate a stuck or malfunctioning control panel button that is sending unintended signals to the control board, which would require further investigation.
