The LOC code on an Electrolux dryer indicates that the Control Lock feature has been activated. This is a software-level function built into the dryer's electronic control board that disables input from the control panel buttons. When active, the lock prevents any unintended changes to the current cycle settings, making it particularly useful in households with young children or in commercial settings where accidental button presses could interrupt a running cycle.

The Control Lock state is stored in the control board's memory and persists until it is manually deactivated. It is not triggered by a component failure, wiring fault, or sensor reading. Instead, it is a deliberate user-activated feature, though it can sometimes be engaged accidentally by leaning against the panel or pressing and holding buttons inadvertently. The control board simply reads the button input, sets the lock flag, and continues to display LOC as a status indicator.

Because LOC is a status notification rather than a fault code, no diagnostic testing of electrical components is required. The dryer's heating system, motor, sensors, and wiring are not involved.
