SLUS indicates that the boiler water level stayed below the minimum safety threshold for longer than the allowed time during a steam cooking cycle. The oven stops the active cycle automatically to prevent the boiler from overheating or running dry. The fault is monitored through the ACU via connector X25. Common triggers include a restricted water supply, a clogged inlet filter, or heavy scale buildup in the boiler.

The SLUS code is a protective fault designed to prevent damage, so the oven shutting down is the safe response to low boiler water. There is no immediate safety hazard to users once the unit has stopped the cycle. However, continuing to attempt steam cycles without resolving the root cause could lead to boiler damage over time, so the issue should be addressed before resuming steam cooking.

If the fix involves only cleaning the inlet filter and descaling the boiler, the cost is minimal, typically just the price of a descaling solution and your time. If a water level sensor needs replacement, parts and labor combined can range from roughly $100 to $250 depending on your location and service provider. A power reset may temporarily clear the SLUS code from the display, but the fault will return as soon as the boiler water level drops below the safety threshold again during a steam cycle. Repeated resets without fixing the root problem risk boiler damage.
