On GE Profile dishwashers, a flashing CLEAN LED accompanied by a beeping sound indicates a control error rather than a normal cycle-complete notification. Under normal operation, the CLEAN light illuminates steadily after a successful wash cycle. When that same light begins flashing and the unit produces an audible beep, the control board has detected a fault condition that requires attention beyond a standard cycle completion.

This error is specific to GE Profile models and originates in the electronic control system. The control board monitors multiple inputs throughout the wash cycle, and a flashing CLEAN light signals that something in the control logic or its communication with other components has gone outside expected parameters. The issue may involve the main control board itself, its internal programming state, or a failure in how the board is receiving or processing signals from components it manages.

The first step is to press the START/RESET pad, which is designed to silence the beeper and attempt a control reset. If pressing START/RESET clears the condition and the light stops flashing, the fault may have been a temporary control anomaly.
