Error code 35 on a GE washer indicates that the control board detected supply voltage dropping below 102 VAC for a continuous 5 seconds during operation. The washer stops to protect its motor and electronics from the damaging effects of running under low voltage. This fault is most often caused by an issue with the home's electrical supply rather than a defective washer component.

You should not continue using the washer while the fault is active. Operating a motor repeatedly under low voltage causes it to draw excess current, which generates heat and can permanently damage the motor windings and control electronics. Resolve the supply voltage issue before resuming normal use.

Resetting the washer may temporarily clear the code, but it will return if the underlying low voltage condition is still present. Because the fault triggers after 5 continuous seconds below 102 VAC, any reset without fixing the electrical supply will result in the code reappearing as soon as the motor runs again under the same conditions. A proper fix requires correcting the source of the voltage drop.

Start by running Test 14 in the washer's diagnostic mode while measuring the voltage at the outlet to confirm whether the incoming supply is dropping below 102 VAC under load. If it is, check for loose connections at the outlet and breaker panel, ensure the washer is on a properly rated dedicated circuit, and contact an electrician if the voltage at the meter or panel is low. If supply voltage is normal during testing, the control board may need to be inspected or replaced.
