Error code 90 on a GE washer indicates an Accelerometer Fault. The accelerometer board, which is mounted to the wash tub, has reported a fault condition to the main control board. This board monitors tub motion and spin performance, and when it signals a problem, the washer stops the cycle and displays code 90. The issue may be with the board's mounting, its wiring, or the board itself.

It is not recommended to continue using the washer while code 90 is active. The accelerometer board is part of the spin monitoring system, and without accurate motion data, the washer cannot properly detect or respond to tub imbalance conditions. Running the machine in this state could allow excessive vibration or mechanical stress to go unchecked, potentially causing further damage.
