GE Washer Error Code CF

CF stands for an IMC (Inverter Machine Control) fault on a GE washer. The IMC is the board that controls the drive motor's speed and power conversion. When this board detects an internal problem or receives a signal outside its normal operating parameters, it stops the cycle and displays CF. The fault can be caused by anything from a minor power glitch to a failed control board or motor.

Start by unplugging the washer for 30 seconds and then running a Drain and Spin cycle to see if the code clears. If it returns, inspect the wiring harness connections between the IMC and the main control board for looseness or corrosion. A persistent CF code typically points to a failed IMC board or a faulty drive motor, either of which will need to be tested and potentially replaced by a qualified technician.

Repair costs depend heavily on the root cause. If a simple reset resolves the issue, there is no cost beyond your time. Professional diagnostic labor typically runs in the range of $75 to $150.
