GE Washer Error Code E

The E error code on a GE washer indicates a redundant lid lock fault during the spin cycle. The control board detects that the basket is spinning above 4 to 5 RPM and the lid switch confirms the lid is closed, but the lid lock feedback has no voltage, meaning the lock is reporting as unlocked. This conflicting signal condition persists for more than 5 seconds before the error is triggered. The washer stops as a safety measure because it cannot confirm the lid is securely locked while spinning.

You should not continue running spin cycles while this error is active. The fault indicates the washer cannot confirm the lid is locked during spinning, which is a safety interlock designed to prevent access to a rotating basket. Continuing to force spin cycles could pose a safety risk and may also cause additional wear on the motor and other components due to repeated abrupt shutdowns.
