E22 on a GE washer means the machine detected a fill timeout. The washer was unable to reach the required water level within 8 minutes during a fill cycle, either because no water was entering or because the flow rate was too slow. The control board shuts down the cycle and displays E22 to alert you to the problem. The issue is usually related to the water supply, inlet hoses, valve screens, or the inlet valve itself.

You should not attempt to run wash cycles while E22 is active. The washer will halt the cycle when it detects a fill timeout, so laundry left in the drum will not complete its wash.
