What F2E2-0 means on a Jenn-Air oven

The F2E2-0 error code on a Jenn-Air oven indicates that the left and/or right touch keypad has lost its connection to the central Indigo 2 HMI (Human Machine Interface) assembly. The Indigo 2 HMI is the control hub that manages user input from the touch keypads and communicates that data to the main control board. When this communication link is broken, the oven cannot receive commands from the affected touch surface, triggering the F2E2-0 fault and typically rendering some or all keypad inputs unresponsive.

The root cause is most often a physical disconnection somewhere along the wiring path between the side touch keypad and the central HMI assembly. This includes the connector at the HMI itself and the connector linking the HMI to the main control board at the J1 terminal. Vibration during shipping, repeated use, or thermal cycling inside the range cavity can loosen ribbon cables or harness connectors over time. A connector that appears seated but is not fully engaged is a frequent source of this fault.

Diagnosis should always begin with the range fully unpowered. After unplugging or disconnecting the circuit breaker, inspect the wiring harness connectors at the HMI assembly and the J1 connection on the main control board. Look for bent pins, corroded terminals, or cables that have partially backed out of their sockets. If all connectors appear secure and undamaged, the fault may point to a failed side touch keypad board or a defective HMI assembly that requires replacement.

Common causes of F2E2-0

  1. 01

Loose or disconnected keypad harness connector

    Wiring / connection

The ribbon cable or wiring harness connector between the side touch keypad and the HMI assembly may have worked loose over time. Visually inspect each connector and press them firmly into their sockets to confirm a full seat.

  2. 02

Disconnected HMI to main control J1 connector

    Wiring / connection

The connector linking the central HMI assembly to the main control board at terminal J1 may be loose or unseated. Inspect this connection carefully after disconnecting power, as a partial connection here can trigger the F2E2-0 fault.

  3. 03

Damaged wiring harness or ribbon cable

    Part replacement

The cable running between the touch keypad and the HMI may be pinched, frayed, or have a broken conductor. Flex the cable gently while inspecting for visible damage and check connector pins for bending or corrosion.

  4. 04

    Failed side touch keypad board

    Part replacement

If the connectors and wiring are all intact and secure, the side touch keypad board itself may have failed internally. A faulty board will not communicate with the HMI even when properly connected, requiring board replacement.

  5. 05

    Defective HMI assembly

    Part replacement

If the touch keypad and all wiring check out, the Indigo 2 HMI assembly may be the point of failure. A damaged or failed HMI cannot receive signals from the keypads and will need to be replaced.

Frequently asked questions about F2E2-0

What does F2E2-0 mean on a Jenn-Air oven?
F2E2-0 means that the left and/or right touch keypad has lost communication with the central Indigo 2 HMI assembly inside the oven. The HMI is the component that relays your keypad inputs to the main control board. This fault is typically caused by a loose connector or wiring issue along the keypad-to-HMI communication path. When the fault is active, some or all touch controls may stop responding.
Can I fix the F2E2-0 error myself?
In many cases, yes. Start by unplugging the range or turning off the circuit breaker, then inspect the wiring connectors at the HMI assembly and the J1 terminal on the main control board. Reseating any loose connectors often resolves the fault without any parts. If connectors are secure and undamaged, further repair such as replacing the touch keypad board or HMI assembly may require intermediate disassembly skills.
Is it safe to use my Jenn-Air oven while the F2E2-0 code is displayed?
Using the oven while this fault is active is not recommended. Because the touch keypad may not be communicating correctly with the control system, you may be unable to reliably set temperatures or cancel cooking functions. Operating the oven in this state could result in unintended behavior from the controls. Address the fault before resuming normal use.
Will resetting the oven clear the F2E2-0 error code?
A power reset by unplugging the range or cycling the circuit breaker may temporarily clear the code, but it will return if the underlying connection problem is not fixed. The reset itself is also the first step in the diagnostic process, since it allows you to safely inspect the internal connectors. A permanent fix requires identifying and correcting the disconnected or damaged component.
How much does it cost to repair the F2E2-0 error on a Jenn-Air oven?
If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, there is no parts cost involved. If the side touch keypad board needs replacement, parts and labor costs typically range from around $150 to $350 depending on the specific board and service rates in your area. Replacing the HMI assembly is a more involved repair and can run from roughly $250 to $500 or more including labor.
