FR indicates the control system has sensed a fault in the second oven's temperature monitoring circuit. This is specific to Jenn-Air double oven models and points to a problem with the second oven temperature sensor, its wiring harness, or the secondary oven control board. The first oven cavity may still function normally while this code is active.

Start by inspecting the wiring harness connected to the second oven temperature sensor for any visible damage, burnt spots, or loose connectors, and reseat all plugs firmly. Next, test the temperature sensor's resistance with a multimeter (most oven sensors read approximately 1080 to 1090 ohms at room temperature) and replace the sensor if it reads open or significantly out of range. If the harness and sensor both check out, the second oven control board will need to be replaced.

Power cycling the oven by turning off the circuit breaker for 30 seconds and restoring power may temporarily clear the FR display, but the code will return if the underlying fault in the second oven sensor circuit is still present. A persistent or recurring FR code requires physical inspection and testing of the sensor, harness, and secondary control board rather than repeated resets.

The second oven cavity should not be used while the FR code is active because the control system cannot accurately monitor or regulate its temperature, which creates a risk of overheating or undercooked food. The primary (first) oven cavity may remain operational, but verify it is functioning correctly before relying on it. Do not attempt to bypass the error and run the second oven until the fault is diagnosed and repaired.

A replacement oven temperature sensor typically costs between $20 and $60 for the part and is a manageable DIY repair. A second oven control board is the more expensive fix, with parts commonly ranging from $100 to $300 or more depending on the model. Professional labor adds $100 to $200 per service visit.
