E434 means the outdoor control board has lost communication with the inverter drive for more than 3 minutes, which also corresponds to inverter fault code 53. The inverter controls compressor speed in variable-capacity systems, and sustained loss of communication causes the system to shut down as a protective measure. The fault points to an issue with the communication wiring, main power supply to the inverter, or a failure in one of the two components involved.

A power reset may temporarily clear the fault if it was caused by a brief power fluctuation or a transient communication interruption. However, if the underlying cause is a wiring fault, power supply problem, or failed component, the error will return once the system attempts to restart and the communication timeout is reached again. A reset alone is not a fix and the root cause must be identified and corrected.
