The 6-1 code is triggered by a real condition detected during operation, not a random control glitch. Address the root cause before relying on a reset to restore normal function.

Repair costs vary depending on the cause. Cleaning the inlet screen or checking the water supply involves no parts cost and minimal time. Replacing a failed water inlet fill valve typically runs between $30 and $100 for the part, with additional labor if a technician is hired. A stuck or failed overfill float switch is generally a lower-cost fix, while leak repairs involving door gaskets, pump seals, or tub components can range more widely in total cost.
