The machine cannot run a wash cycle without confirming adequate water intake, so it stops and displays this code.

Resetting the dishwasher by pressing and holding the Start button or cycling the power may temporarily clear the 4E code, but the error will return if the underlying water supply issue has not been fixed. The code is not a random glitch; it is triggered by a measured lack of water flow, so the root cause must be resolved.

If the fix is simply opening a shutoff valve or straightening a kinked hose, there is no parts cost at all. Cleaning a clogged inlet filter screen is also a no-cost repair in most cases. If the water inlet valve needs replacement, parts and labor typically range from $100 to $250 depending on your location and service provider. A flowmeter sensor replacement is generally in a similar cost range.

Start by confirming the water shutoff valve under the sink is fully open. Next, inspect the water supply hose for kinks or pinches.
