Samsung Dishwasher Error Code AE

The AE code indicates a communication failure between the main control board (main PBA) and the display control module (sub PBA). When these two boards fail to communicate for 24 seconds, or 6 seconds during test mode, the dishwasher triggers the AE code and stops operating. The fault is most often traced to the wiring connectors between the two boards rather than the boards themselves.

The dishwasher will generally not complete a cycle when the AE code is active, as the communication fault causes it to halt operation. Attempting to force the dishwasher to run with an active board communication error is not recommended. It is best to diagnose and resolve the issue before resuming normal use.

Repair costs vary depending on the cause. If only the wiring connectors need to be reseated or cleaned, there may be little to no parts cost involved. If the display control module (sub PBA) or the main PBA requires replacement, parts and labor combined can range from roughly $150 to $400 or more depending on your location and the specific board needed.

A power reset may temporarily clear the code if the communication failure was caused by a momentary glitch, but if the underlying wiring or board fault is still present, the AE code will return.
