Samsung Dishwasher Error Code CE

CE stands for a communication error between the control boards in your Samsung dishwasher. Specifically, it indicates a failure in the signal link between the Micom on the sub PBA and either the Touch IC on the touch PBA or the Micom on the main PBA. When these boards cannot communicate, the dishwasher stops operating and displays the CE code. The fault can be caused by loose connectors, damaged wiring, or a defective board.

Start by unplugging the dishwasher or turning off its circuit breaker, then locate the connectors between the touch PBA and the sub wire harness and firmly reseat them. Check the wire housing to PBA connector junction specifically, as this is the most common point of failure. If reseating connectors does not resolve the error, inspect the wiring harness for damage. Persistent errors after those steps typically require replacement of the touch PBA, sub PBA, or main PBA.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, there may be no parts cost involved, though a service call from a technician typically runs in the range of $75 to $150. If the touch PBA or sub PBA needs to be replaced, parts and labor combined can range from $150 to $350 or more depending on your location and the specific board required. Main PBA replacement tends to be at the higher end of that range.

A reset may temporarily clear the CE code, but if the underlying cause is not addressed, the error will return. To reset, power the dishwasher off at the circuit breaker for a few minutes, then restore power. If the CE code comes back immediately or during the next cycle, a physical inspection of the connectors and wiring is needed.

When the CE error is active, the dishwasher will not operate normally, so continuing use is not typically possible until the fault is cleared. The error itself does not indicate a fire or water hazard, but the dishwasher should not be forced through a cycle with an active communication fault. Address the error before returning the appliance to service.
