The dO code is a door open warning that appears when the dishwasher detects the door is not fully closed during a wash cycle. The control board monitors the door lock switch continuously and halts operation if it does not receive a confirmed latch signal. It can be triggered by an actual open door, a faulty door lock switch, or a problem with the main PBA.

A reset can clear the displayed code, but it will return immediately if the underlying cause has not been resolved. To reset, press and hold the Start or Cancel button for a few seconds, or disconnect power to the dishwasher for a minute. If the door lock switch or latch is defective, the code will reappear as soon as the next cycle begins.

If the fix is simply repositioning dish racks or closing the door firmly, there is no cost involved. A replacement door lock switch typically costs between $15 and $50 for the part, with additional labor costs if a technician performs the repair. A main PBA replacement is significantly more expensive, generally ranging from $100 to $300 or more for the part alone, making professional diagnosis worthwhile before replacing that component.

Start by firmly closing the door until you hear or feel the latch click, then try restarting the cycle. Check that no dishes or racks are blocking the door from closing completely. If the error returns with the door properly closed, the door lock switch should be tested for continuity and replaced if it has failed. Persistent errors after switch replacement may point to a wiring issue or a main PBA fault.

The dO error is actually a safety feature. The dishwasher will not spray water while it believes the door is open, so an active leak risk is low in that state. However, you should not attempt to force or bypass the door lock mechanism. Identify and fix the cause of the error before running a full cycle.
