The WE code is a water supply error. It appears when the flow meter detects a pulse count of 100 or less within one minute of the fill starting, a pulse count of 5 or less within the first 5 seconds, or no water supply at all within 5 minutes. The dishwasher stops the cycle to avoid operating without sufficient water. The most likely causes are a clogged inlet valve, a loose terminal connection, or a faulty flow meter.

You should not attempt to run a wash cycle while the WE error is active. The dishwasher has detected insufficient water entering the tub, and operating without proper fill levels can damage the pump, heating element, and other internal components. Diagnose and resolve the water supply issue before running another cycle.

Repair costs depend on which component is at fault. Cleaning debris from the inlet valve or reseating a loose connector costs little to nothing if you do it yourself. Replacing a water supply valve typically runs between $30 and $80 for the part, while a flow meter replacement is in a similar range. If the main PBA needs replacement, parts alone can range from $100 to $250 or more, and professional labor will add to that total.

Start by checking that the household water shutoff valve under the sink is fully open and that the supply hose is not kinked. Next, inspect the water supply valve for debris or mineral buildup and verify the valve's wire connector is firmly seated and free of corrosion. If the valve and connections look good, the flow meter should be inspected for a jammed rotor or debris. If those steps do not resolve the error, the main PBA may need to be tested or replaced by a qualified technician.

A reset may temporarily clear the code, but the error will return if the underlying water supply problem has not been fixed. To reset, power the dishwasher off at the control panel or unplug it for a few minutes, then restart. If WE reappears at the start of the next fill cycle, the inlet valve, flow meter connections, or main PBA still need to be inspected and addressed.
