Samsung Heat Pump Error Code E134

E134 indicates an open or short circuit fault in the outdoor oil temperature sensor circuit. The control board monitors this sensor to track compressor oil temperature, and when the signal falls outside the valid range, the system logs E134 and interrupts normal operation. The fault can originate at the sensor itself, the wiring harness, or the connector at the PCB.

Operating the heat pump while E134 is active is not recommended. The oil temperature sensor protects the compressor by ensuring it runs within safe lubrication conditions. Without a valid sensor reading, the system cannot detect an overheating or oil-related problem, which could result in compressor damage. It is best to address the fault before resuming normal operation.

If the fix is simply reseating a loose connector, there may be no parts cost at all, only a service call fee which typically ranges from around $75 to $150 depending on your area. If the oil temperature sensor itself needs replacement, parts and labor combined generally range from $150 to $400. A damaged wiring harness can fall anywhere in that same range depending on complexity. PCB replacement, if required, is the most expensive scenario and can range from $300 to $700 or more.

The first diagnostic step, checking whether the outdoor oil temperature sensor connector has come loose from the PCB and reseating it, is something a knowledgeable DIYer can safely perform. Beyond that, accurately diagnosing a failed sensor or damaged harness requires a multimeter and familiarity with working around heat pump electrical components. If the connector is secure and the error remains, a qualified technician should handle further diagnosis and any parts replacement.

A power reset may temporarily clear the error code, but if the underlying fault in the sensor, wiring, or connector has not been corrected, E134 will return once the system runs its diagnostics again. Resetting without fixing the root cause is not a solution and could mask a condition that leads to compressor damage over time.
