Samsung Heat Pump Error Code Ch

Ch indicates the crank case heater (CCH) is actively preheating the compressor crankcase before allowing the compressor to start. This protects the compressor by driving liquid refrigerant out of the oil before operation. It is a normal protective status, not a fault. The system will resume normal operation automatically once preheating is complete.

The heat pump is safe during the Ch preheating phase, but the compressor will not run until preheating completes. The indoor air handler may still circulate air depending on your settings, but heating or cooling output will not occur. Do not attempt to bypass or force-start the system during this period, as doing so could damage the compressor.

In most cases there is no repair cost at all, since Ch is a normal preheating status that clears on its own. If the crank case heater element has failed and requires replacement, parts and labor costs typically range from around $100 to $300 depending on the technician, your region, and the specific unit model.

No repair action is needed in most cases. Simply wait for the preheating cycle to finish, which takes up to 2.5 hours. If the unit was just installed or has been without power for a long time, allow up to 6 hours before expecting normal operation. If the code persists beyond 2.5 hours, a technician should check the crank case heater element for continuity.

Resetting the unit by cycling power will not bypass or clear the Ch code. Powering the unit off and back on restarts the preheating sequence from the beginning, which would actually extend the time before the compressor can operate. The code clears automatically only when the preheating cycle completes.
