E475 indicates that the indoor unit's evaporator outlet temperature sensor (EVAP OUT sensor) has been detected as separated or disconnected from its mounting position during operation. This sensor is clipped to the indoor heat exchanger coil and monitors refrigerant temperature at the coil outlet. When it detaches, the control board loses accurate temperature data and shuts down normal operation to prevent damage.

It is not advisable to continue operating the heat pump while E475 is active. Without accurate temperature readings from the EVAP OUT sensor, the system cannot properly control refrigerant flow, which can lead to issues such as excessive frost buildup on the coil or refrigerant flooding back to the compressor. Shut the unit down until the sensor is properly reattached or replaced.

If the sensor simply needs to be reseated at no parts cost, you may only pay for a service call, which typically ranges from $75 to $150 depending on your location.
