Samsung Heat Pump Error Code P467

P467 indicates a first-detection close failure of the Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) in the indoor unit. The system has determined that the EEV is not closing properly when commanded to do so. The most common starting points for diagnosis are the EEV wiring connection at the indoor PCB and the physical seating of the EEV coil on the valve body.

Continuing to operate the system with an EEV close failure is not recommended. An EEV that cannot close properly can lead to uncontrolled refrigerant flow, which may cause compressor damage or reduced system efficiency over time. It is best to address the fault promptly rather than run the unit in a faulted state.

Repair costs depend on what component is at fault. If the issue is simply a loose wiring connection or improperly seated coil, labor costs alone may apply, typically in the range of $75 to $200 for a service call. If the EEV coil or valve body needs replacement, parts and labor combined can range from $150 to $500 or more depending on the unit model and local labor rates.

Checking and reseating the EEV wiring harness connector is something a knowledgeable DIYer can attempt if they are comfortable working inside the indoor unit. However, testing the EEV coil resistance, diagnosing a seized valve, or replacing components in the refrigerant circuit requires proper tools and training. If basic wiring checks do not resolve the fault, a certified HVAC technician should perform further diagnosis.

A reset may temporarily clear the error code display, but the fault will return if the underlying cause has not been corrected. Because P467 is logged as a first-detection event, the system will continue to monitor the EEV and re-flag the failure if the valve still cannot close. Resetting without repairing the root cause is not a solution.
