Samsung Hood Error Code E-08

E-08 on a Samsung hood means the microwave function was started while a spit or rotisserie accessory was detected inside the cooking cavity. This is a safety interlock that prevents the microwave from operating with metal accessories present. It is not a malfunction of the unit itself in most cases. Removing the spit from the cavity should resolve the error.

The E-08 code itself is a safety protection feature, not a hazard. It exists to prevent microwave operation while a metal spit is inside the cavity, which could cause arcing, fire, or damage to the magnetron. As long as the unit is blocking microwave function as intended, the system is working correctly. Do not attempt to bypass this interlock.

If the fix is simply removing the spit, there is no repair cost at all. If a cavity detection switch needs replacement, parts and labor costs typically range from $75 to $200 depending on your location and service provider. A control board replacement, if needed, would generally fall in a higher range of $150 to $350 or more including parts and labor.

Open the cooking cavity and remove the rotisserie spit or any metal accessory that may be inside. Once the cavity is clear, reselect your desired cooking mode. If the error continues to appear after removing the spit, inspect the cavity detection switch for debris, damage, or a stuck position, as that component may need replacement.

A power reset alone is unlikely to permanently clear E-08 if the spit is still in the cavity or if the detection switch is faulty, because the unit will re-detect the condition when operation is attempted again. The correct fix is to remove the spit first. If the switch itself is defective, a reset will not resolve the underlying issue and the error will return.
