The 22Er code indicates a condenser fan (C-FAN) error. It is triggered when the main PCB detects a feedback signal line contact fault, a separated motor wire, or a motor failure during operation. The condenser fan is critical for cooling the refrigerant system, so this error can lead to reduced or lost cooling if not addressed promptly.

It is not advisable to run the refrigerator with an active 22Er error for an extended period. Without a functioning condenser fan, heat cannot be properly removed from the condenser coils, which can cause the compressor to overheat and fail. Food safety may also be compromised if internal temperatures rise.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. A condenser fan motor replacement typically ranges from $80 to $200 including parts and labor. If the main PCB is the faulty component, costs can range from $150 to $400 or more. Wiring harness repairs or reconnections are generally on the lower end of the cost spectrum.

Some causes of 22Er are DIY-accessible, such as reconnecting a loose wiring harness or clearing a physical obstruction from the fan blade. However, measuring voltage at the main PCB connector CN20 pins 22 to 24 and testing motor windings requires a multimeter and comfort working around electrical components. If the motor or PCB needs replacement, a qualified technician is recommended.

A power reset may temporarily clear the 22Er code if it was triggered by a transient signal glitch, but the code will return if the underlying cause is not resolved. If the fan motor is failed, a wire is separated, or the PCB output is faulty, the error will reappear after the refrigerator restarts and the system re-checks the fan circuit.
