The 2R error code indicates a fault with the R-Sensor, which is the temperature sensor in the refrigerator compartment. The error is triggered when the Main PCB detects a problem such as a disconnected sensor, a short circuit, a broken wire, or a separated sensor housing. Technicians confirm the fault by measuring voltage at Main PCB connector CN30 between pins 5 and 7, where a normal reading should fall between 4.6V and 1.0V. A reading outside this range points to a failure in the sensor circuit.

Because the R-Sensor controls how the refrigerator regulates its cooling cycle, a 2R error means the appliance may not be maintaining accurate or consistent temperatures in the fridge compartment. You should check the actual temperature with a separate thermometer and consider moving perishable items if the compartment is warming above 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not rely on the refrigerator's own display for accurate temperature readings while the sensor fault is active.

Repair costs vary depending on the root cause. If the fix is simply reseating a connector or repositioning the sensor housing, there may be no parts cost involved. A replacement R-Sensor typically falls in the range of $15 to $50 for the part alone.
